Health tourism is gaining respect across the world and is also getting a lot of positive attention. Not only are more people finding out about the practice but with the health care system issues the way they are in this country many people are beginning to explore alternative options. This includes people who in the past would never have deviated from the standard doctor office visit and emergency hospital structure. These same people are now seeking not only alternative medicine options but also health care services that they may be able to afford by receiving them outside of their home country.

Due to the amount of growing interest in the field and the diverse countries that are participating in it, both as consumers and providers, the industry has started to need a little overall organizational structure. A larger population than ever before has started to ask questions and inquire about their possibilities and the best ways to achieve their particular health care need and this has caused a demand for a centralized information agency, which the Health Tourism International Chamber of Commerce hopes to fill.

Because the majority, if not all, of the people that are seeking medical tourism services are looking for specific health issue treatments and not an overall care system, each person must seek out the best location for their particular need. This is one of the benefits that a centralized information source can provide. In addition, Chamber of Commerce recently launched a new program called World Class Health. This was based in South Florida and was focused not only on providing information and resources but also on promoting some health tourism travel and care packages. This promotional effort is there to not only provide necessary support and information but also to demonstrate the increasing social acceptance of this practice. In the future this may be an extremely common aspect of health care services and the Health Tourism International Chamber of Commerce will play an important role in its evolution.
